A Melancholy Song ...
Went for a wander down Forest Farm this afternoon. It was in hope of finding a nicely perched Kingfisher to be honest with you, but once again no photo. I did see one flash up the river, but couldn't see where he went.
I haven't been to Forest Farm for months due to one thing and another ... well mainly it's pee'd down most summer! There wasn't a lot going on to be honest. Other than the split second view of the Kingfisher there was nothing more than Mallards and Robins. The woodland strangely silent once more ... other than this Robin which was singing mournfully. It seemed to fit the mood of the changing season. Looking at the trees, autumn is now about to start. Everything looks tired and old. I actually love Autumn, the burst of colour that the end of summer goes out with can be spectacular.
Robins are one of the only birds that sing all year around, but even they change the tone and pace of their Spring song to a melancholy one.
Shattered tonight ... bloody Andy Murray kept us up until 3am! By by 'eck it was worth it ... the sporting summer ended with its own final burst of brilliance!
