Taktsang
Today was an all time bucket list achievement. We set off early and drove to Paro for the climb to the incredible Taktsang monastery built into the mountain face. The valley bottom is at 7000 feet and Taktsang is at 10,200 so there is quite a climb and in the rarified air, it was quite an effort. Well worth it though. The site has been used as a meditation cave since the 8th century but the monastery dates from early 1600 although it has been destroyed by fires and rebuilt a couple of times. A memory to cherish. Thanks, Sonam.
