Mono Monday
Once upon a time there was a little Rotschwanz living in Austria. He was named Johann after the famous composer of waltzes because he could hop around so prettily in circles. It was this ability, as well as his big black eyes, his smart grey coat with white tips and his fox red tail, that first attracted the attention of the charming Lisi. He desperately wanted to have her as his mate and searched high in the neighbourhood houses for an attractive and secure niche to make a home. He came upon the perfect spot - a ready made house, high up, under cover and with several rooms. He chose the largest and carefully lined it with dry grass. twigs and plenty of moss. He lovingly lined the interior of the nest with down and a few of his smartest feathers. When his house was finished he coaxed her along to view it and, to his delight, she flapped her wings with joy and pronounced it the prettiest house she had ever seen. She hopped inside and it fitted her perfectly. Needless to say she accepted his proposal as 5 tiny white eggs appeared soon after. Lisi conscientiously tended her eggs only leaving for short breaks to feed. Johann returned about 2 weeks later to see if he was about to be a father. His timing was perfect. This morning Lisi stood up and showed him 5 of the cutest little Rotschwanz babies under her legs. Johann is taking his duties very seriously and providing the brood with plenty of nutritious bugs.
