Refugees Welcome
A weekend break in Madrid, and the first time through airport security brandishing my Pacemaker card.
All went well at the airport, I jumped the queue for the first scanner nicely, but then the pat down check took longer than the queue.
The weather was as forecast and a little damp so it was off to the Prado museum for some art, but the queue there was so long that we diverted to the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum instead (one of the other 2 parts of the Golden Triangle of Art in Madrid). They had a special exhibition of Masterworks from Budapest, which was very enjoyable, plus one on the Spanish architect Rafael Moneo, different but equally enjoyable and interesting. Then it was off round the remainder of the museum. We got half way round before the early start began to hit (it is massive, we did over 20 rooms with more than that remaining).
The hotel was only 10 minutes or so from the museum so we walked both ways and on the way back I stopped to take this, it's good to see that refugees are still welcome in some places.
