Ron's Hostas

Some of you may remember that, when he retired, Tess's Dad became something of an expert on hostas, growing numerous varieties and writing pamphlets and articles about them. We've tried to grow some of his offerings for a number of years but, despite trying all sorts of precautions he recommended , they've always fallen victim to the slugs.

Last Summer after Ron passed away was no exception and this Spring we rather lost heart and have totally neglected them. Needless to say, for the first time ever, they have grown slug free and are looking really good. I reckon he must be looking after them on our behalf.

We had a swim this morning, then pottered in the garden between showers this afternoon, when this shot was taken.
