Plugging the gaps

A short bike ride this morning through sunshine and showers. Returned from Moore along the canal path. I did not expect to see many boats on the go this morning, then, like buses, three came along together. I only managed two in the photograph though.

I have noticed that it is usually the menfolk who get to "drive" the boat while the ladies are either in the front saloon or the galley. As you can see these ladies were allowed to drive today. Something to do with the weather perhaps?

I have seen the dredger moored on our stretch of the canal over the last week. It was in action this morning when I passed. I asked one of the crew where they dumped the mud that they dredged up. He explained that they were plugging a leak and hopefully this load would do the trick. They were being held up as a narrowboat was tied up at the point where they needed to offload. With all the miles of empty banks what are the chances of someone selecting this place?
