Qualifier Done :)

We had to do out two hour sea swim qualifier to enable us to do the channel swim. It wasn't easy for sure.
We couldn't go into the harbour so went to Deal instead. The current was so unbelievably strong.
As a team we are good but we all have different swimming abilities. Some are stronger than others but we all have the endurance and strength of mind to do it.
We had a couple of others join the swim too. One was an autistic lad. He's going to try and be the first autistic person to do the Channel. I'm sure he will. Unfortunately he caused us a bit of trouble.
With the current being so strong only a couple of us made any distance forward. Some were swimming in an endless pool and some although swimming into the current went backwards....it was that strong. That caused us to be split as a group.
I am a strong swimmer so with my friend Alistair we surged ahead not knowing what was going on behind us.
When heads were counted one was missing.
It was the autistic lad. People were looking for him and the coast guards were called.
Alistair and I were told to get out. Knowing we had to be in cold water for two hours we went to the waters edge and stayed in. Someone kept an eye on the slower swimmers so they could carry on while the hunt for Bruce went on.
All of a sudden he was seen on the beach.
I still haven't got to bottom of it.
Anyway good job we didn't get out. Bobbing around in the water made me sick though. I'd rather have been swimming the 10 mins or so we were waiting.
We got really cold but still had 35 mins to do. It was tough to say the least. But we did it. We all stayed in for our two hours.
I was determined to do this as my sister in law was one of the first to sponsor me. She was really supportive of all my bits I do. We did it for her today.

Thank you for my hearts and stars yesterday. Much appreciated. X
