color accents

I'm always a sucker for a purple and yellow combination. Is it because purple is made up of red and blue, and then yellow completes the primary color wheel? 
The extra photo is a scrub jay against a blue sky. Another combination of colors I find pleasing to the eye.
I'm spoiled with so much natural beauty around here today!
