£5m Bridge
I've mentioned Elland Bridge many times when posting my blips, referring to the difficulty in getting to the nature reserve after it was severely damaged by flooding after it partially collapsed on 29th December 2015 during floods.
Originally built in 1811, It has been rebuilt at a cost of £5m and was reopened to walkers and cyclists in January 2017, and to traffic on 8th February. The bridge is Grade II listed, and has been put back pretty much as it looked before - but now it's stronger and flood resilient. What was left of the old bridge was dismantled, and each stone numbered and re-used in the new bridge.
Thank you to BobsBlips for hosting the challenge - for once I've managed to tie my shot into this month's theme of M,Y or 5. :-))
Thank you very much for the response to yesterday's TT blip - it's very much appreciated.
