Cork City, West Cork day 5
Despite the close proximity of His Lordship and me in our 'cosy' Airbnb over the last 4 days we each left unscathed this morning en route for Cork.
The weather has surpassed our expectations again as we strolled the streets and sat in hot sunshine on the quayside licking ice creams.
Our meal with our hosts last night in Glandore was memorable. There were drinks at a table over looking palm trees and the sea while we watched the sun sink in the west. When it got chilly we moved inside beside a fire to feast on prawns, mussels and crab. What a way to end our holiday in West Cork.
We said our goodbyes to my friend of mts and her partner late this afternoon in Cork before we fly back to Edinburgh very early tomorrow morning sporting sun tans!
This is our second visit to Ireland without being rained on. The first time the tar was melting under our bicycle wheels and this time we drove through gorse fires because things were so dry.
Thank you I and M for being such attentive hosts- we have had a ball!
His Lordship may be loathe to smile for the camera, but this fish in the English Market had no such qualms.
The extra photos are of a shop front in Cork which together with the sunshine makes it look totally Continental, the venue in Glandore for yesterday's dinner, and the man of the moment posing beside the fountain in the market
