What a racket!
This is the view from a window in the building in Newcastle where our lectures are held. The room we were in to read Dante this morning is in the grey bit on the left. It was a little noisy!! Possibly an appropriate soundtrack for the reading from Purgatorio, as sinners are purged of their sins. It might not be right next week, when we reach Paradise – perhaps all will be peaceful by then.
The building next to ours was the Old Odeon Cinema, which, sadly many thought, has been demolished. A month ago, during the demolition process, the building collapsed – just tumbled to the street apparently. Amazing that no one was hurt. The stupid thing is that the Odeon was a lovely building, the one we use is an eyesore – surely they chose the wrong one to pull down. Or maybe ours is going as well.
Anyway, after the noisy session, I met up with Gail and we had a really lovely lunch and chat. Thanks for lunch Gail. Great place you found. And it was quiet!
