My English friends may disagree but who needs mass produced 'potato' crisps made from reconstituted mush when you can have the best kind of crispy, salty, spicy, sweet snacks bursting with flavour and made from real food? On our walk back home this morning, we came across this guy with his cart and decided to stock up on dry roasted chickpeas. The vendor had an old fashioned set of hand held scales that he used to measure out the half kilo we requested. He also had puffed rice, chickpea vermicelli, salted peanuts, peanuts in their shell, dried split peas, sesame snacks and crisps made from real potatoes. The chickpeas we bought will be tossed in a dry wok with spices later and we'll munch on them while they're still warm.
