SarkDay 6 - Ronaldo
My last day on Sark was very relaxed, starting after breakfast when five of us took a waggon ride through the quiet lanes pulled by gentle giant Ronaldo with his groom Julie in the driving seat. Apart from bicycles and walking this is the only way to travel on this jewel of an island where there are no cars. It was like going back in time with the gentle clip clop of Ronaldo's hooves and about as far from the stress of modern life as it possible to get.
On our return Ronaldo stood patiently at the open stable door waiting for his well earned feed having added to his already large fan club.
During the afternoon I spent a few pleasant hours in the peace and quiet of the stunning La Seigneurie gardens engrossed in some flower photography. Pics of the carriage ride and the gardens in the extras.
Our last night on Sark ended in the best possible way when about 40 invited locals, many of whom we had met during the week, joined us for drinks and a slide show in which each of us contributed 6 of our best photos of the week. It was the perfect way to sum up the week with much laughter and banter between us and our new found friends. I believe that some of the local Sarkees have already booked for next years party. I have a feeling that it will be hard to resist going back there too.
