fresh mountain morning
On this cool, fresh morning, the birds were actually waiting on the back porch for me to put out the bird feeder (which I bring in at night to keep from attracting our neighborhood bear). This is a first - they usually wait in the nearby trees.
Another first, for this season anyway, is this Mountain Chickadee. When I checked in my bird book to make sure I identified it correctly, I saw two pictures of a Mountain Chickadee. One was described as a "worn adult" without much of a white stripe over its eye, and the other was called a "fresh adult" with a very distinct white eyebrow.
I'd say this one is quite fresh!
