How it should be done

Spent the day in London treating Tim for his 50th birthday which isn't until June by the way but we had some time bound activities to fit in. First was a trip to the Photographers Gallery to view an exhibition of Roger Mayne's work comprising a series of B&W street photos from the 50s and 60s from London, Nottingham and Sheffield. These were very good but on a further two floors were exhibitions from entrants into a photography competition carrying a prize of £30,000 so pretty serious stuff and this work shot in the projects (equivalent of our council estates) in LA was my favourite. Roger's work captured the period wonderfully but the difference in the quality of the photographs from the two eras was so clear to see, these shots were simply stunning.

Exhibition was followed by a tapas lunch and then we went to the theatre to see the Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time. Second time for us, first for Tim - what a terrific show and luckily as I appear to have the memory of a gold fish, it was almost all new to me just 2 years after I first saw it.

We rounded off the day with dinner at a nearby pub, The Queen's Head in Piccadilly, a very nice and reasonably priced independent pub/restaurant that is a bit off a favourite when we are in theatre land.  

A few extras from the day and a few more to process but it's late, I'm tired and I'm going to bed.
