Bristolwood and Beyond

Seneca Lake State Park

We had so much fun on our picnic a couple of weeks ago, we decided to have another today!

The weather was a tad chilly, according to the kids. It was definitely cool enough to don a lightweight sweater, but not actually "chilly". Actually, today was the first day of *my* weather. It certainly did feel like an early autumn day!

I had packed hamburgers I made earlier in the day along with corn I had prepared to do on the grill. (I took some husk off, along with the "hairs" and soaked it in a large ziplock bag full of water). I made a Pumpkin Dump Cake early this morning, and even whipped up real heavy cream to top it!

As soon as we arrived, we placed the corn on the grill and shortly thereafter, the hamburgers. The wind fiercely insisted on blowing the tablecloth up in the air like one of the sails on the yachts passing us on the lake!

The food seemed to be done in record time! And it was sooo good! Anyone know why food always tastes so much better when eaten outdoors? It seems there was very little left to gather to take home! Even the "Dump Cake" (which the kids had ribbed me terribly about!!) was a big hit. And Murphy joined in the good fun as well, eating his own cheeseburger on a paper plate on the tailgate of the truck with the kids!

What could be a more perfect ending to such a fun picnic? How about a gorgeous sunset?
