Bluebell Woods
About time for our annual trip to Hucking Woods, a Woodlands Trust site, on the top of the North Downs to see the bluebells. By sheer coincidence, it was a year to the day when we made the same visit. Not such good weather this time, mostly cloudy with the odd glimpse of sun and some spatters of rain from showers scudding across. The bluebells were in profusion with swathes and carpets of the vibrant flowers carpeting parts of the woodlands.
With this shot, the sun peeped out for a few seconds, just enough to highlight the tree trunks in the background to provide contrast and structure to the bluebells in the foreground and beyond. I tried a closeup too, which is in extras. Also in extras is a shot of lambs gambolling around a wood carving of a Downland Shepherd which I thought was very blipworthy too.
We had plans to call in at the Hook and Hatchet pub at the end of the walk but in the end decided not to. They had a karaoke event going on in the garden and loud music playing in the bar. We thought ourselves rather old fuddyduddies for not stopping but the sound was just a touch too high to make it comfortable. Shame as it seems the latest owners are trying to make a go of it. So we came home for tea and homemade teacakes rescued from the freezer.
