People at Work : : Moises
"It's all in the wrist", Moises is fond of saying. We tried doing the windows ourselves...once. Then we called Moises. He comes twice a year and spends half a day washing all our big windows and French doors inside and ou,t leaving them sparkling clean. Then he takes all the screens out, washes them and puts them back. He calls himself The Squeegee King, and I wouldn't argue with him.
He had an extra challenge today because it has gone from spring to summer in two days and is 93 degrees F outside. He knew how to plan his circuit of the house so that the hot sun wasn't hitting the glass when he's 1) standing in it reflecting off the glass and 2) Trying to wash glass that is so hot it dries before he can get the soap off.
I offered cold drinks and ice, but he never takes any. He comes prepared with lunch which he eats in the shade of our oak trees, and his own cold drinks. He can't be more than five feet tall and has the right ladder for every window. He had a knee replacement in January, took two months off and is now back to running up and down ladders. When he comes in the house, he wears shoe covers.
We've had so much rain this winter that the windows were really dirty. Moises and Jerry, the tree trimmer and his crew, have now restored our lovely vistas. I've included a picture of his truck in our driveway as an extra because it also shows the view from our kitchen window.
