The Tweed at Tweedsmuir

This is the point at which, in my view, the Tweed changes from being a hill burn into a river. Though, as you can see, a not insignificant burn, and this at a time when we have not had too much rain recently. This is the gorge by the lovely single span arched bridge that carries the road to Tala, Fruid and the Megget reservoirs. It also marks what I think is the highest point in the river that is worth canoeing. Just below here, actually; only the very brave and very foolhardy would attempt this.
