A relaxing day
Its been a real lazy Sunday, not doing much at all. The weather has been mixed, one moment it clouds over and there is a bit of rain, the next the sun comes out again. In one of those brighter moments I popped in to Claremont Gardens to see if there was anything to photograph - as it is so close to home it is easy enough to do. Gavin and I had a short walk around the lake and came home again. This is the view across the lake.
We had a delicious chicken BBQ lunch, and then it was back to the books for Thomas while Gavin read the Sunday newspapers. I was sitting in the conservatory reading and watching birds and got quite excited when this pair of parakeets landed on the feeders - a blurry photo through the window is in my extras. We often see them around here.
It is Caesarean Sunday at Cambridge University today. It is a major event for Cambridge drinking societies, and is known for the rowdy activities on Jesus Green where they celebrate the summer term by dressing up in costume and drinking - seen as the last party before exams. Last year, a fresher from one of the drinking societies, who was dressed in a sheep costume made of cotton wool, was 'set alight' by another student. Of course he was barely alight but the press made a huge thing of it, so this may be the last year for this infamous 80 year old tradition if it gets out of hand. Of course the press forget that they too were students once, and take great delight in exaggerating the activities that take place. I wonder what will be in the papers tomorrow morning?
