Swallows and...........

..........friends........I couldn't find any Amazons  ;-))

I intended to have a day catching up on things but my daughter sent me a text this morning to say she was working at a new clinic ( she's a Clinical Psychologist ) which backed onto a nature reserve and was not a million miles from me.....she had had a cancellation just before lunch and wanted to know if I was free to meet her for a walk.....I didn't need asking twice!!! ( much nicer than doing the ironing ).
The weather wasn't the best ( damp and grey) but there was some great wildlife.........within minutes of being there I had seen a Kingfisher twice!! ( which didn't settle)....but the best  were these gorgeous Swallows feeding their youngsters ....my daughter thought they were Red-Rumped Swallows at first sight ( quite rare visitors apparently) but I now think they could be Barn Swallows flying with a large flock of ordinary Swallows ( still fabulous to see, whatever they were.......more in extras ).
We then saw a lovely Poachard ( in extras) swimming with the Mallards, a Sedge Warbler that wouldn't sit still and a Heron ( in extras), which was quite happy to pose.
Such a wonderful and unexpected surprise.......but I hope she has a cancellation on a nice sunny day next time  ;-))
