Kulfi

Kulfi is apparently a Persian word meaning a cup.

What it means to me is a memory of a childhood summer treat we would occasionally have from a famous street stand near my Masi's house when out on a evening walk.

The kulfi vendor would have a cart with lots of sticks poking out of its inner aluminium compartment. The sticks were actually 'elephant grass'. He'd loosen each stick out of an individual mould by twirling it around and pull out a rocket shaped kulfi.
Kulfi is sweet, made with milk, pistachios and saffron and creamier and more dense than regular ice cream.

My parents remember using elephant grass as a writing implement when they were kids by dipping its tip which they'd first shape into a pointed nib into an inkpot.
