Piwakawaka

Or New Zealand Fantail.

I was out in my garden taking photos of fungi when this young fantail and its friend showed up to visit.  They were flitting about catching the bugs I'd obviously disturbed while getting down at ground level on the lawn and blowing dirt off the fly agaric.

I only had my 60 mm out there with me so it felt a bit pointless trying to photograph them, but I instinctively  took a few shots anyway.

I was fairly stunned to actually capture this image of the wee one as it flew straight across in front of the camera.
