Sun

This is all the sunshine I got today. Well maybe a few minutes of the real thing.

That was OK. I had lots of chores to do, and sun would just have tempted me to skip them and chill out. I'm away the next 2 weekends, after 2 weeks of holiday at the end of August, so starting the get the garden back under control was a high priority.

5 or 6 of my famous Bavarian sunflowers have still to flower. Will they make it before the autumn weather kills them? Two broke this week in the windy weather, so they're inside. (Yes, they are in cider bottles. This is an all male house - mostly - so fancy vases are in short supply).

I've had 3 good cucumbers from the greenhouse this week. The variety I grew are meant to be small. More flavour. I've eaten cucumber every day this week. Pity I hate the neighbours, or they'd have been in luck.

Anyone need some Thai basil?
