Everyday we have looked out of the window and seen Beinn Mhor. Usually we have seen only the first few hundred feet, with the rest shrouded in thick mist. This morning we could see right up to the narrow rocky summit ridge. The day had come to make for the top.

You might wonder why it's called the "big hill" when it's only just over 2000 feet high. I think it's more to do with it's imposing aspect and that impressive rocky top, from which you might easily fall hundreds of feet. Or maybe it's the miles of pathless bog and heather which you need to tramp to get to it..we went directly from the cottage at Loch Eynort. Although the forecast had been for dry weather, we were only a couple of hundred feet away from the summit when thick mist came down, and at the top it was windy and cold. Not a place to hang around and there was no view to be had in any direction. Neither did there seem much point in carrying on to complete the triptych with Ben Corodale and Hecla.

This photo shows the view down to loch Eynort before the mist descended. the extra is D and Sarah by the reservoir on the way back to the house.
