Underneath the arches..........

I had a busy morning on the domestic front, and J went out to do some more work on his friend's motorcycle. He got back just after I had my lunch, and we then went out for a drive. We did the same route as the other day, but in reverse, and stopped off in Cymmer,  and had a walk along the path near the viaduct. The viaduct was opened in 1878 & built by the Great Western Railway to link the South Wales Mineral Railway (which ran from the Glyncorrwg collieries  to Briton Ferry ) with the same companies  Bridgend -Abergwynfi line. The piers are of locally quarried stone and are shown in the process of erection on the first edition Ordnance  Survey . The line closed in 1970.
