Hobbs's Run

On the Wrist

The last couple of days I have been toting around my Olympus OMD E-M5 with the Samyang 7.5mm fisheye style prime wide angle lens attached. It really is a great optic and in particular makes child's play of a certain style of macro. Its close focus ability has it pretty much bumping the subject before it refuses to focus and its extremely wide angle of view gives me heaps of dof whenever I really need it. What's more it is built like a tiny tank and is beautifully finished.

Of course its biggest downfall is that (like most Samyangs) the lens has no electronic coupling to the camera body. As a result there is no autofocus and the aperture reading is not recorded for the image file exif. Neither yesterday's f11 or today's f16 appear in the published info.

Incidentally this Seiko "Sea Urchin" diver's style mechanical watch is just about my favourite wrist adornment and so I felt it deserved another blip.
