Lordmatic

(Backblipped 7th May) From 1969 until 1976, Seiko produced a series of watches under the name of "Lordmatic" (or "LM"). My father bought one in 1972 and wore it for many years. My brother inherited it but for well over a quarter of a century it sat in a drawer, unused and unappreciated. Recently he came across it again and, remembering my interest in watches, passed it on to me. It is in remarkable condition but needs an internal overhaul and is off getting repaired as I type.

Interestingly the watch featured a hacking/windable automatic 5606 movement which was a relatively advanced hi-beat  calibre in the Seiko range at that time. Later that same movement was upgraded, decorated and installed in early "Grand Seiko" models. Given that those timepieces sell for $6000 or more it must have been a fundamentally good mechanism. Anyway I can't wait to get it back so I can start wearing it ... when I shall photograph it properly.
