Tulip Festival
Friday
This morning Jen took us to the Tulip festival at Ashton Gardens, in Lehi, about 30 minute drive south of Salt Lake City, which as you can see from my collage (well, how could I just choose one!), was magnificent. We were afraid it would be really crowded being Easter weekend, and the car park certainly seemed pretty full, but the gardens are really quite extensive, so it didn't seem particularly crowded as we wandered round. They have recently opened the Light of the World Garden, which depicts 15 scenes from the New Testament, and provided me with the fitting image for Good Friday of Jesus carrying his cross. We then had a bite to eat at a nearby shopping area, and later went for a walk on the Bonneville shoreline trail. Lake Bonneville was an immense prehistoric lake that covered much of the eastern part of North America's Great Basin region, largely in present-day Utah, though parts of the lake extended into present-day Idaho and Nevada. The Great Salt Lake, Utah Lake and Sevier Lake are present-day remnants of this vast lake.
