Oh dear!

Yesterday I found this sorry sight, no Easter Bunny visiting our household then! The culprit is in the shot, my son's cat. She visits regularly from town and usually spends her days catching rats or shrews. However she is in the bad books for this lot. We have no rabbits on the farm, a resident family of buzzards do for them up on the road above the farm. So this cat has either gone up the 1/4 mile farm track and risked rabbit hunting by the road side or she has caught a leveret. We have numerous brown hares and this possibly is the lower half of one. The head and front limbs were gone, presumably eaten and it's hard to tell if this is rabbit or a young hare. I am really saddened if she has caught a leveret as they do just lie still in the grass and would be a sitting target for a cat. As for the mole, well I'm not so sad. Cute looking creatures they may be but they have done a fair bit of damage in our garden over the past year. Our male cat has caught several moles and never once have they been eaten, always left as a gift at the door!
