Swings and splashes
A CharleyBlip
WOW it has been an amazing day today! I tried to get Mummy up early because I just knew it was going to be a good day but she was quite determined to have a few more minutes asleep. Not as determined as me and Ben though. Daddy helped me off the bed and I headed straight for the stairs, Daddy wasn't expecting me to be quite so fast!
After breakfast (I do love breakfast!) Daddy said he had to go out to work today. Ben was very cross but Mummy had a plan to go out somewhere special - I knew it! Ben and I played for a bit and then we Skyped Gran and Grandad and Ben showed them his new lorry. He was cross and sad when they had to go. I followed Mummy into the kitchen but I got tired so Mummy wrapped me up. I think I remember her making sandwiches but it's soooo comfortable when she wraps me up close to her.
I'm not sure how it happened but the next thing I remember is we were walking beside a lake with ducks on it! The sun was very hot and Mummy had put a hat on me. I don't much like hats at the moment. Ben chose somewhere to sit down, and Mummy started pulling things out of her trolley. It's like the Tardis, that trolley of hers. (You think I don't pay attention when they watch telly in the evenings?!) Picnic!! She WAS making sandwiches earlier! I stole one of Ben's sandwiches after eating all the strawberries that Mummy had prepared for me, chewed and discarded several bits of sausage. I like sausage. I like seeing how many pieces I can get in my mouth all at once!
THEN we had some excitement. Ben got his swimming things on! I made a break for it, I wanted to get to the paddling pool already but Mummy caught me and put my swimming pants on. I've not worn them in months :-/ but they still fit so that's ok! The water was COLD but not very deep so I stayed at the edge and splashed about and grinned :D Ben ran around and around, splashing and laughing, making lots of friends! My gums started chattering but I didn't mind until Ben splashed me too much, then Mummy got me out and dry and dressed and we watched Ben splashing around for a bit longer. I kinda wanted to go back in the water and kept trying to make my way to the edge but Mummy kept scooping me back up. I nearly made it while she was getting Ben dry and dressed!
Then we went to the playpark to warm up. There were some musical play things which I really liked, things to hit which made beautiful sounds. Mummy and I played for ages while Ben went on everything. I even went on the SWINGS! Ben keeps telling me about swings and now I know why he likes them, Mummy made me laugh saying boo to me and tickling my feet every time she got close!
Mummy said something about going on a train but Ben saw something interesting which turned out to be a ball pool. I've not been in a ball pool before. I wasn't really sure what to do but Ben dived in and seemed to enjoy himself, he was laughing and smiling lots anyway! I stayed at the edge near Mummy, it was fun though! Then I had to WATCH while Ben got to bounce on the bouncy castle. Can't WAIT to be big enough for that! THEN it was time to go on the train and we waited for it to arrive and Ben got twitchy because Mummy and I didn't beat the train into the station!
We had chips and cake in the cafe where Ben made more friends before heading slowly back to the bus stop but it was getting cold even in the wrap snuggled up to Mummy. We stopped in town and then Daddy met us for coffee in Ben's cafe with cakes! Ben wasn't happy though, he was cross with Daddy for going out today, especially because Gran and Grandad had gone home yesterday which he was still upset about. I'm glad they made friends - but it was funny because Ben made Daddy sit on a different table!
I bumped my face on a table at home this evening though, it's maybe the second time I've bumped hard enough to draw blood :( Daddy thinks the adrenaline stopped me settling down to sleep at bedtime.
Jeni's Extra Bits
Ben could talk forever if you let him. I wish I could remember some of the gems he's come out with today! He's been chatty - on the bus on the way to the playpark he went straight to the back and there was no way I could follow. I could hear him from the front though, chattering away to some poor old lady telling her his life story - actually I couldn't quite hear, and part of me dreads to think what he might have been telling her! I did though hear him excitedly telling her that after three, he was going to be FOUR!!
And in other news, it's pretty cool that Steve is being headhunted already :D I think we've sorted all the typo's on the website now!! (Thanks Keith, and others!)
If you want to see more photos I'm throwing them onto instagram as I go, and occasionally I remember to put them onto flickr...!
