Blue Agave

Look at the top right of the thumbnail, or at the extra taken from our bedroom window. Our giant Blue Agave is looking like it is going to bloom...uh oh. It is a striking plant right at the top of our driveway, and looks like it is going to be even more striking when it blooms, but then it will die and not be so striking. It is already looking a bit beleaguered at the bottom, but that could also be due to the fact that it has caught almost sixty inches of rain this year and is beginning to rot. It may be making regular appearances if this is really the endgame....

A century plant
gestates its seeds for decades.
Then it blooms and dies...
