Happy Birthday Monkey

Today is Monkey's 7th birthday. Katie made him a card, asked me to make him presents (a bandana, bow tie and some matching trousers) and she made him a banana and strawberry-flavoured worm cake from lego. She sang to him, she played happy birthday on the piano. She was a happy girl for her little monkey.

We did some clarinet then a bit of piano before we packed up in the car. Today we had a booking to do "The Height of the Reeds" - a Hull 2017 event. Hull2017 and Opera North together have created an original piece of music, combined with poetry and sounds recorded from the Humber Bridge. You each have a headset and walk the bridge listening to the beautiful creation. It was a gorgeous day and the music was gorgeous. Katie had a great time dancing along the bridge. On the way back you listen to the sounds of the bridge. It was quite something, more wonderful than I had anticipated really. We've very much enjoyed everything that we have taken part in for Hull2017 so far - they're doing an amazing job.

We got home about 230 and she had a while in the garden playing before she came in and played a bit more music. Granny and Grandad arrived for tea with us both. She decided to play to them and that I would join her for some pieces we play together! When they'd gone home, she enjoyed some time reading before going to sleep. She's so enjoying the holidays, having the time to just chill out and read a bit later in bed and stuff. We both feel nicely relaxed!
