Old Age
“Now is no time to think of what you do not have.
Think of what you can do with what there is.”
― Ernest Hemingway, The Old Man and the Sea
‘Clergy are dumbfounded by it
Bones are surrounded by it
Flesh
I like that stuff’
- from Stufferation by Adrian Mitchell
Some improve with it
Some wear it well
Some get into the groove of it
Some think it hell
Some are worn down by it
Some find it tough
Some are simply torn by it
Old age! They hate that stuff
Some know how to thrive in it
Some positively glow
Some are so alive in it
‘I’m 93 you know.’
Some get rusted up by it
Become wreckage on its beach
Some have lost their trust in it
And find the sea is out of reach
Oh some have lost their trust in it
And find the sea is out of reach
