Overhailes

It's so good to be back in East Lothian at long last for a few days of visiting family round here and in Edinburgh. This is the fourth time we've stayed at Overhailes; it's perfectly placed for the rellies in Stenton, North Berwick and Longniddry and it has the best view of Traprain Law and Hailes Castle. All the kids get so excited to come up here to see their grandad and the large array of step grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. It's always, however long we stay, a whirlwind whistlestop sort of holiday but always great fun too.

I must remember how blissful (relatively speaking) it is to travel on a Sunday. We positively breezed up the motorway and got here in record time in spite of some new roads round Morpeth utterly baffling the Google Maps lady, rendering her speechless for several minutes while our on-screen course tracked uncharted cross-country territory.

Once unpacked my dad came over with L from Stenton to say hello and make plans. Then food and a wander down to Hailes castle in the setting sun (and bracing wind!)
