Mantis Diary 14
The mantis with the cropped antennae was sprawled on a blackcurrant leaf in the sunshine eating a yellow-faced bee. That’s the bee’s little face about to disappear. The yellow-faced bee is a NZ native solitary bee.
I also found two more mantis adults on the two big Viburnum bushes. Since they were less than two metres apart I’m hoping they will get together. They can be seen in the extra shot. The male is on the left. They are not necessarily to the same scale.
