Lunch with a view

Out with the U3A Ramblers today. The walk went up Helm Crag, near Grasmere,  by a route I had not taken before which was steeper than the usual steep route. One person clearly hadn't read the notes for the walk and dropped out before we were half-way to the top. This was followed by a long undulating ridge walk over Gibson Knot and then Calf Crag where we stopped for lunch. We completed a mini horseshoe by ascending and then descending Steel Fell.  About 8 miles in total with 2600' of ascent. Four Wainwrights but only one new tick, Steel Fell. A generally cloudy day with a cold breeze at times but very enjoyable.
