Yes, it's Wednesday again!
Today the Haltwhistle long walkers tackled an 11.6 mile circular route from Tindale village (between Hallbankgate and Halton lea Gate). George led a great walk.
His coffee stop was near some lime kilns. He had stopped here 2 weeks ago, whilst walking the route, and left his spectacles. He found them almost immediately, which was great.
We climbed up to the top of Talkin Fell. We could see the Solway Firth and across to Scotland, as well as seeing some of the Lake District mountains. It was a bit hazy so they don't show up well in my shot.
I "persuaded" a few of the group to pose next to some of the cairns that have been built here. They were mainly willing........
At the end of the walk, one of the group managed to drive his car into a ditch as he left the car park. We had to leave him waiting for the AA to effect a rescue.
This evening, Margret next door's grandson, Sam, came to see us. He seems to have grown a few more inches since we last saw him about 8 months ago. He is having a gap year and working as a tennis coach near his home in Cambridge. He has a university place to study History in Leeds in September. It was a delight to hear him talk about all the things he is doing this year.
