The perfect seat . . .

. . . for a little girl. Maddie made herself very comfortable in St Hilda’s Church, Hartlepool.

When we went to Whitby a few weeks ago, searching out St Hilda’s Well and the Abbey, I became quite interested in St Hilda as a person, particularly as so little is known about her. On that Blip KathGordon commented that, before she went to Whitby, St Hilda was Abbess of Hartlepool , that the current St Hilda’s Church stands on the site of that monastery, she herself lives quite close to it and her family have links with it.

So we planned a visit. We chose a day when the Church and its Visitor Centre was open and we all met up there. What a wonderful, and huge, building it is. Very impressive. There is an informative exhibition and we were shown round by a knowledgeable local guide. We enjoyed the visit very much. I’m not sure Maddie was as impressed, but she did find herself a comfortable seat!

Thanks Kath for coming and for bringing Maddie. Lovely to meet you again – and to find out that we were all at the same college, although not quite at the same time . . . almost.

Blipmeets are always good, but to have a blipmeet with a blip star, now that is special – she had to be my blip!! (St Hilda stained glass is in extras)

And it was a lovely day for walking by the sea.
