Playfair
With all that has been going on the past few weeks I needed a day of catch up in the office as the backlog needed tackled. So I stayed away from an event in Glasgow on participation by young people and knuckled down.
Home in time to head out to imeet friends in town. On our way there, the Royal Scottish Academy building, designed by Playfair was looking resplendent in the evening sunshine.
There are many classical buildings in Edinburgh, often based on Greek style architecture. Which makes the reclining sphinx seem unusual. I've blipped the building before. Last time on 1 November 2015. Then it was the statue of Queen Victoria (which was not Playfair's original concept for the extension of the building). Interestingly the sphinxes always were.
