Delicate Manoeuvres

A dull overcast start eventually gave way to a couple of hours of nice sunshine and this bee was making the most of it ...........what really amazed me was that it carefully stuck its antenna into each flower ( see extras) before landing and getting the nectar ...........I watched a programme about bees once and I remember them saying that the flower gives off very weak electric pulses if it has recharged the nectar supply after being previously visited.......I wonder if this is how the bee detects them........I expect I will never know but it doesn't stop me wondering :-))

Something else I remember from the programme.......the large bumble bees that fly this early are all females.......they are queens looking for food and a good nest site .......I hope this beauty finds both :-)
