Snowdonia D4

Llyn Gwynant.
There's been a bit of a theme to this trip to North Wales....

With the weather set to change it was a potentially tough day for the boys. There's a fine line between developing their independence and recognising a duty of care and today i had to balance both.
Walking into the mines at Creagh Dhu along the fantastically historic Watkin Path always makes me think of the mines of Moria, it's one of the most atmospheric places i know - and today as the weather came in and the cloud shrouded the tops it only added to the effect, I could almost hear the dwarves singing.
Y Lliwedd is a scary place for a competent adult in bad conditions - for four young lads from China it was one heck of an introduction to how quickly our British mountains can turn serious. For their supervisor (me) it was a pretty full on few hours - strong winds, minimal visibility and a huge drop - but it was also super rewarding to see quiet John come to the fore and lead, strong Chris helping Kevin step by step - and all of them grin from ear to ear when the clouds parted and they realised the scale of where they were - Lliwedd is a near 1000ft cliff and looms large above Llyn Llydaw.
The extras show the day - perhaps a more normal view of Wales for some who follow this journal lol.
