Fully Laden

9.8C dully, cloudy, and misty. Light rain later in the afternoon. Moderate ESE/E/SE breeze.

Maeve the Deerhound wasn't well again yesterday evening. This time just after 9pm. I have decided not to include details in this journal although I am making notes privately. She settled after a while and didn't seem driven to go walking so we both stayed close to her and let her rest until we went out at 11pm as usual and with a bit of a struggle downstairs.

Could this be being caused by a reaction to or a side effect of the Metacam? We did some searches online. There is not body of evidence from the UK to suggest the possibility but there is in the US. We have decided that we will withdraw the Metacam. We consider this to be a sensible course of action.

Maeve woke before 5am. I took her for a walk which she managed a bit better than she had at 11pm. She did go back to bed fairly easily. So did I. We went out again at 7am. then she looked quite settled through the morning. After lunch we went for our walk. Although slow she seemed happy enough and managed the stairs without any problems.

Once Maeve was back home and settled I went for a walk. I went round past Aquilibrium and had a wander round the old quay. Davaar island was almost hidden in the mist. Nordic was still at the new quay and looked fully laden. I went on round the harbour and along the little park by the ferry terminal and out Kilkerran road to Glenramskill House then I came back. As I came back along the street side of the park I could see Nordic crossing the loch and heading out through the channel escorted by the Pilot boat. It was approximately 90 minutes after high tide. I came home through town passing the town hall and the bookshop (open). Maeve was still settled when I came home. We will go for a short walk after 5pm.
