The Strange Adventures of the Volvo
This was close to my last shot of the day, and almost the last shot ever with the Volvo. Somehow the Volvo escaped and jumped into a ditch. I am not exactly sure how it happened, only that it was my fault due to some type of negligence? Not fully in Park, no hand brake?
I turned around, saw the car moving, chased it, failed to catch it (I am very slow), and saw it plop gently over the edge of a ditch. I called my son and he and his best friend who came down with his friend's giant truck and pulled us out. The car seems fine. The dog was terrified by my reaction and ran off into the swamp and I had to wade in to retrieve him. We walked a couple of miles out to meet the boys and the dog kept looking at me like I was trying to murder him.
I was quite worried I would break my blip-string. The picture was made at the La Joya unit of the Ladd S. Gordon Wildlife Refuge along some sort of ditch. It is digital IR, was then sepia toned and slightly desaturated.
Today I am thankful for boys who are quick on the rescue, the intrinsic toughness of the Volvo, and the adventure the dog and I had.
