Back Seat Burkha

A taxi grab on the way to Kandahar Indian restaurant tonight. I actually quite like the challenge of getting something from the back seat of a taxi these days! A lady dressed just like this one was having dinner in the restaurant tonight and I couldn't help but notice the logistics of it all. Every forkful had to be negotiated into her mouth and that meant holding back the flap of her veil - hard work while handling a nan bread. I'm not judging at all and I don't know enough about it to observe and comment more than I have.

In other news, Hosni Mubarak, the ex-President of Egypt was released from prison today here today. His life sentence started about 6 years ago, but he'll be sleeping in his own bed tonight. There's talk of problems surrounding his release. Let's see.

There was a bomb in Maadi this morning - an area about 45 mins from us and where we had planned to go for lunch. We postponed our visit. The perpetrators who planted the bomb which killed a father and injured his wife and kids have still to be identified.
