Burma railway

lovely weather today so we decided to go over to Alrewas to the Arboretum.
It underwent a massive facelift last year with a new visitor centre and some more memorials installed.
After visiting the Logistics Grove we followed the pathways and ended up at the area dedicated to PoWs which includes the railways of Sumatra and Burma. The stories behind the building of these structures are staggering in the ferocity of the treatment the soldiers received in the hands of their captors.
This part of the track is from the actual Burma railway. There is a building opposite which tells the story of the construction of the railway and the are videos from the soldiers who lived to tell their stories......
The Arboretum is a fantastic place to visit.....£3 to park all day.....it`s an unforgettable experience
