Spring in East Lothian
It is a long time since we had the use of a City Car Club car, but today we decided to have one for the morning and tootle down the coast in the sunshine.
First stop was the Filling Station in Longniddry to pick sandwiches for supper. Then we retraced our old cycling route through Drem to Merryhatton Garden Centre for morning coffee, where restraint was the order of the day, both on the consumption front and on the overwhelming desire to tell a young mother at the nearby table that if she stopped playing with her mobile phone and ignoring her small son in his high chair she could have avoided his melt down. Isn't it fascinating how with old age comes wisdom!
From Merryhatton it was onward to Athelstaneford where this blip was taken. The ghosts of our former cycling pals were around us as we stood beside the empty village hall where so many lunch 'drum ups' were held.
To compensate for a sedentary morning, His Lordship and I bit the bullet by visiting the gym in the afternoon, but it was lovely to visit our old hunting grounds without the effort involved in pedalling.
