Hymns and Arias
Back-blipped March 17th, 2017
"And they were singing
Hymns and arias,
Land of my fathers,
'arry had an 'orse"
These words are from a song by Max Boyce, a Welsh comedian and singer. It's richly satirical, and too complicated to fully explain here. If you're familiar with Welsh culture you'll understand it, even if you never heard of Max Boyce or the song.
But I digress. The two ladies on the left are vocalist/flute player Ann Morgan Jones and harmony singer Sue Jones Davies, of the Welsh group Cusan Tân. The extra photo explains how they got to perform a concert in Seattle. The blip photo was taken at a potluck celebration the day after the concert.
Sharing a hymnal while singing Welsh hymns is a very good way to establish a budding relationship. Well, it worked for us!
