isle royale

a vast and wild island, 100 miles long, stretches across the northwestern reaches of lake superior (the largest freshwater lake in the world, by surface area). michigan's only national park, the entirety of isle royale is a wilderness area, the interior accessible only by foot.

so today, two close friends and i set out for a backpacking trip. our journey by foot began here, at chippewa harbor.
