Hauser & Wirth gallery
This afternoon ES, LS and me,we went on a girly jolly to Hauser & Wirth in Somerset near Bruton. We stopped at an antique shop in the town on our way. The owner was so pessimistic about affordable antiques saying the younger generation was no longer interested as they were minimalistic, so what is going to happen? Antiques cannot be stored until the fashion changes?
At Hauser & Worth we visited the Elizabeth Frink exhibition. Her sculptures are not to everyone's taste but it was interesting. Decades ago when working at the Dorset County Museum I met her briefly while she was setting up an exhibition there. The horses heads and her wild white hair and strong profile stuck with me. We then looked at another even more extraordinary and colourful exhibition by Djordje Ozbolt entitled Brave New World. We finished with tea and enormous flapjacks in the upmarket Roth Bar and Grill. A very enjoyable time.
The large bucket in the photograph is permanent.
